Learn, Shoot, and Explore: A Day of Photography in Historic Guthrie
Step out of the studio and into the magic of on-location photography with a hands-on workshop and photowalk experience you won’t want to miss. Join us August 23rd for a day filled with creativity, learning, and community—set against the charming backdrop of Oklahoma’s oldest historic district: Guthrie.
On-Location Lighting with Johnny & Carrie Holland
Led by the dynamic duo Johnny and Carrie Holland, this outdoor lighting class is packed with practical tips and real-world insight. Together, Johnny and Carrie bring decades of photography experience and teaching expertise to help you tackle the common challenges of outdoor photography.
Learn how to work with natural light, manage tricky shadows, pose your subjects effectively, and compose impactful outdoor portraits—whether you’re working with golden-hour glow or midday sun. The session begins with a brief Q&A in the studio before heading out to put theory into action.
Guthrie Photowalk with Heath Shelton
After the lighting class, grab your camera and join Heath Shelton of Shelton’s Photography & Design—celebrating 29 years in business—as he leads a guided photowalk through the historic streets of downtown Guthrie. With its vintage charm and architectural beauty, Guthrie offers endless opportunities to apply the lighting and composition techniques you just learned.
It’s a relaxed, creative evening where photographers of all levels come together to create, connect, and capture something truly special.
